European Day of Parks

From Croatia 24.5.2023.

European Day of Parks has been celebrated on 24 May throughout Europe since 1999 with the aim of bringing nature closer to people and raising awareness of the importance of natural values in protected areas. It is commemorated on the date when the first nine national parks in Europe were declared in Sweden in 1909.

The slogan of this year's celebration of the European Day of Parks is "WE GROW FROM OUR ROOTS!"

What would we be without nature? It is part of our existence, we depend on nature mentally and physically .... the air we breathe, the food we eat ... but the connection between us and nature is shaken, we try to restore balance and therefore take this slogan seriously.

The celebration of Day of Parks is celebrated every year through various activities designed and organized by institutions that manage protected areas. The aim of these events is to bring people closer to nature and raise public awareness of the importance of natural beauty preserved in protected areas, and especially the importance of conservation and sustainable management of these areas. The most beautiful way to celebrate European Day of Parks is to visit some of them and enjoy the treasures that nature gives and preserves.

There are 8 national parks and 12 nature parks in Croatia today, so you have plenty of choices. Protected parks are the national treasure of our beautiful country! Let us preserve and value them as priceless oases of biodiversity and numerous endemic species so that everyone can enjoy them.
