International Noise Awareness Day

From Croatia 20.4.2024.

International Noise Awareness Day, which is celebrated on April 20, aims to raise awareness of the importance of daily protection from noise in order to preserve people's health. Exposure to unwanted noise can cause stress and negatively affect the daily activities and quality of life.

Although there are individual differences in reactions to excessive sound stimulation, depending on the level and frequency of the noise, as well as the time of exposure, the resulting damage can be temporary or permanent.

The effects of noise on people can be divided into:

1. HEARING AND DEAFNESS. Hearing damage caused by noise is most often professional and occurs in continuous exposure to noise above 90 decibels.

2. NEUROVEGETATIVE REACTIONS (hypertension, endocrinological and metabolic disorders)

3. FATIGUE AND MENTAL REACTIONS (irritability, decreased concentration, sleep disturbance)

4. REDUCTION OF WORKING AND LIFE ABILITY.
