National Bird Day

From World 5.1.2021.

Birds have always held a special place in our hearts, which is why we celebrate National Bird Day every January 5th! Although birds are amazing, they are also a massive group of animals under special threat. And the term "canary in the coal mine" is named after birds for a reason - they are barometers of the health of our planet's environment. The fact that many bird species are endangered due to illegal pet trade, disease and habitat loss means that it is more important than ever to raise public awareness about the needs of birds. The survival of hundreds of species depends on it! HISTORY OF NATIONAL BIRD'S DAY Whether they are the main cardinal of your yard or ordinary pigeons flocking to the park, birds have always held a place of fascination, love and adoration in our hearts. There is a certain awe that can only be exploited by watching an eagle soar. Unfortunately, most birds are either endangered or protected, mainly due to habitat loss or illegal pet trade. That’s why the Bird Social Coalition created National Bird Day to raise awareness of the hardships and troubles of these important animals and how we can initiate the change needed to create a healthier and more sustainable relationship with them. Birds are often considered to be living links to the past, as the most closely related animals to dinosaur evolution. They are often key species in ecosystems, signifying its health and vitality. For example, holes left by woodpeckers are often used as homes for a large number of other animals. This means that if woodpeckers ran from food sources - or from real tree species - all animals would depend on their boiling skills.
