The enthusiasm of children, that could be heard and seen last Friday on April 22 on the celebration of Earth Day, was evident throughout the day in the area of ​​the Central wastewater treatment plant in Zagreb. Over 600 children from 13 elementary schools participated in the competition for the best artistic and literary works.

After the opening event and welcome speeches, from the managing director of ZOV-uip Mr. Andrija Oštrić and the special envoy of mayor Milan Bandić, Mrs. Katarina Milković, was the award ceremony for the best artworks. Special awards were for the group works, even 100 tickets for the symphony concert of the Zagreb Philharmonic.

After the awards, children took part in the shooting of the millennium photo on the center of our plant area. A special surprise for the children was the visit of the famous Croatian singer Nina Badrić and HTV presenter Uršula Tolj, who planted three fruit trees together with the children, so they enrich our ecological orchard.

As part of the event, children had the opportunity to take a look on the exhibition of the artworks they made and afterwards they could take the train tour true our plant with a guide. They learned a lot about the importance of waste water treatment, also they had a chance to see how the water look like on the entrance and how is the water look like when she is entering the river Sava.

On Earth Day we also organized creative workshops with animators who entertained the kids, unavoidable were our mascots Šljunčica and Zovko, who were followed by the children all the time.
